The Faculty of Engineering will be commencing academic activities of its first batch of students, in a building complex located in Ratmalana. The facility will house Lecture Halls, Computer Centre, Drawing/ Design Office and laboratories for Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, and Office Spaces for Faculty Staff, Canteens, Areas for basic Recreational Activities, etc. The laboratories and other such facilities are to be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and implements.
The location can be easily accessed by public transport. Furthermore, having Faculties of Engineering in institutions such as the University of Moratuwa, the Open University of Sri Lanka and the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University in the close proximity is an added advantage for the new Faculty and will enable using their resources during the initial stages of the Faculty, if required.
Having the ultimate goal of providing high quality education and strengthening the Free Education System, the Faculty is making every effort to establish an environment that would nourish the learning activities of students.
Construction of a new Building Complex for the Faculty is also to commence within the suburbs of Colombo shortly.
